Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Now, here my variation of the JJ blouse.
I´m not a huge ruffle fan so I leave them (and of course I think it wouldn´t look good on me…).
It was really hard for me to sew it. I got crazy on the sleeves slit! I wish I could understand the english instructions better! I was shortly before to throw it away cause I cut it wrong, but fortunately I found the how to from squirrellypoo for easy sleeve slits! so I could repair it.
I trust the finished bust size on the patten, but I failed. I used size 40 (finished bust size 102 cm) so i must have 3 cm room to can breath ;) – but it was to small. So I left one fold on the front pieces, and used 1 cm from the seam allowences on the collar to make it longer.
In the end it worked and I´m very happy with the result!

leftover fabric from IKEA for 1€ :) - so not to bad when I had failed

Hm I have a feeling I commented on this creation, but obviously I forgot to post it…Looks perfect! I am not very big on the ruffles either. I had to refit it at the waist area – it was fitting at the bust but then it got too wide at the waist. But I do think the pattern is great.
I did a small sew along on my blog when I made the shirt dress out of this pattern and there I showed how I sew the bias on the sleeve. I was too lazy to post it here too…

hey fashion1 I actually did a small tutorial how I sew this slit on my blog, when I was describing the dot com dress. I was just a bit lazy to do it again for burdastyle. Maybe if I find some time this days, but anyway you can look it up on the blog if interested!

Cute as can be….and I wouldn’t mind your bust problems! Also, don’t beat yourself up over not being able to read the English as well as you’d like…I have a feeling it’s not entirely a problem with your understanding of English…sometimes the pattern wording is very difficult to understand!

it looks terrific! i’m a novice, so i’m still a little intimidated by the JJ. and call me crazy, but part of the “fun” of sewing is figuring out how to salvage projects that have gone wrong. alright, maybe fun isn’t the right word…but you know what i mean! anyway, your clever fixes worked and you’ve got a fabulous shirt. :)

JJ, I have always the problem with the bust size. my body wants not to fit in one size :/
I know the workshop from burdamode, but I never try it cause it looks so difficult and seems to need a lot of time. ButI think I must try it.
It was the first time that I sewed a blouse and slits. Now I know what I must do, I think the next time it will work much better!
Marijapo, don´t be jealous! I wish I had no D Cup. It´s very hard for me to find good bras. or dresses and blouses, when they fit on my bust size they are to loose on the waist…

I tried this pattern after Burda had reformed too. I found that it runs
Sorry for the sleeve cuffs difficulty. I think you should try it again on muslin, it’s quite useful, you can use this tecnique many places such as back / front neckline opening, dolman sleeve. It’s like a binding a hem with bias tape except that you have to slit the point to spread the hem so it looks like a straight line.small about 1 size. Next time I will make one size larger. Patterns from big companies, Burda, Vogue, Butterick, Mccall, and Simplicity built to fit B cup, if you are smaller or larger, fix it before cutting the pattern. There are good alterations in Workshop over burdamode.

This is great! I’m always jealous of your bust size. The shirt looks great and I could never guess the fabric was from IKEA. Love the belt too, it makes you look so classy.

Despite all the trouble you had with it: it turned out really nice :) I can understand you decision to leave the ruffles, it didn’t do the blouse any harm. I’m really motivated by your great result to start my own JJ blouse soon ;)

sweet, fresh and crisp!
jj mentions somewhere that the pattern is for a cup B, i’m not surprized by the problems you encountered; i made it myself (size 46, cup C) and i noticed i should have altered the bust line slightly for myself. i also made one for my daughter (size 36, cup AA) and it fits her better (i’ll post them some day). the pattern will suit best a tall slender type. i guess we were both lucky with the generous seam allowances included.
