A dress in black and white houndstooth wool. Based on a Burda style pattern that I’ve been eyeing for a while and finally found the perfect fabric. I did make the neckline just a notch wider and shortened the dress a bit.

It looks so perfectly fitted. I think I have this pattern & seeing how well yours turned out, I think I should get busy. Thanks for posting.

Thank you. I haven’t had great success with dresses before because of fitting issues, but the ones that did not turn out definitely thought me what kind of style fit good on me and which ones to stay away from.

Love the dress & the styling. Where or where did you get that fabric?? I have been looking all over for it and haven’t had any luck at all.

the fabric was such a great find – I got it on sale at a local Hancock Fabrics store for about $4/ yrd and its 100% wool.

What a beautifull dress, what pattern did you use? I like the way the darts are used on the top.

Such a lovely shape to this dress. I’m as curious as Jess to know what issue mag this was from!

@ loulourosa, janene and jessdunstan -
it is a Burda 11/2007.
Sometimes it takes me a couple of years to find the right inspiration
