Description

This dress was sewed as part of the 70s style/inspired challenge with another blogger, AllieJ. It took me quite a while to finish due to huge amount of pattern pieces and their interfaces which were cut one by one without folding the fabric. Also sewing French seam, with tissue paper on every seam and hemming the skirt took ages, too.

I used 100% printed silk fabric which I really like. It’s soft to the touch and flowy, which I think is very suitable for this style.

The pattern is Vogue 9076, which surprisingly was categorised as ‘Easy’ (if I’m not wrong). I would highly recommend this pattern.

    Hello Emily,

I love your beautiful dress, suits you very nicely!

70’s fashion is great, very demure chic.

The fabric print was an excellent choice.

    Well done!

It’s a beautiful dress and silk is the perfect fabric for it. I also love your photos. You are right, the pattern does say ‘Easy’ – was the french seam and the interfacing each piece part of the construction / instructions or your choice? I am interested in making the dress, but I am not sure if I want to do all that work :)http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v9076-products-49527.php?page_id=174

Hi Mokara, the french seam is not part of Vogue’s instruction but the interfacing is. I used french seam because of the silk fabric. It looks nicer that way. I highly recommend this pattern, the final result speaks for itself I hope. Good luck if you go with it, and please let us know when it’s finished! xo :)
