This is a jacket for early spring. I have wanted to challenge this pattern but I wasn’t sure if it would suit me… I think lively young girls would go well in this military jacket, but I am rather matured, so I tried to attenuate the strong character of “uniform” and to make it “light”. I like the result and think it’s OK in the end, it still makes me look “in costume” though!
very stiff cotton/acrylic/nylon tweed. pink cupro for the liner. hand-made covered buttons.
Since this jacket has a rather boxy silhouette, I recommend all to choose your fitter size and to use soft fabric as exactly Burda team has done. It was hard for me to fit it to myself because the fabric was not that soft or stretchy. I sincerely hope that nobody will have such trouble (any more)!!!

You did such a wonderful job and thanks so much for posting the pic. I’ve had a pink piece of pink fabric for years that I recently was trying to figure out what I wanted to make. Well, imitation is the best form of flattery, isn’t it? I’ll be making my ‘copycat’ version this weekend!

Not at all, Yoshimi, military, I mean. You’ve done a lovely job in masking any signs of that! The pink is so pretty…great job!

Hi, Yoshimi! I just joined the group, so I’m late to join the conversation. I’d agree – you’ve done a fantastic job creating a lovely, “vintage” look piece. You might not wear it often, as it’s so distinctive, but it will wear well – I’m reminded of those great 1940s styles for women!

Hello, this suit is just amazingly glamourousn the military aspect is totally lightened by the color of your fabric. I like your creations. I have just added to my favourites. I like beautiful fabrics like you. They make clothing look neat and perfect.

I think that this jacket looks excellent on you! You did a great job, and I don’t think it looks costumey at all. I think that the cut of the jacket and the color suit you quite well. But, we are all our own worst critics! :D
