Description

so i made shorts!
i saw this fabric and i just knew i have to make shorts out of it
(even though i haven’t been wearing shorts since i’ve been in elementary school)
..
fabric was in remnants bin of my local fabric shop
just a tiny remnant about 0,5m big
dunno how i managed to squeeze this shorts out of it
(i’ve spend over an hour trying to fit my paper pattern pieces on fabric
like i was solving a puzzle)
..
only change i made
was to sew in seam zipper
instead of front fly one
..
if i make this pattern again (and i believe i’ll do that)
i would change waist into a more shaped one
instead of long interfaced rectangle
i’m a curvy gal, and i need more shaping than original waist has
(i fixed problem with taking in small wedges of original waistband)
..
see more pics on my blog mokosha
..
ps sorry for the wrinkles
i’ve been practically living in this shorts
for day and a half before taking these pics

they look so cute! I’m about to make this pattern too and i can’t figure out if I should add seam allowances to the waistband pieces. Did you? the belt carrier measurements say that allowances are included but the waistband instructions don’t, though I’m wondering if the “allowances included” is meant for both of them since it is written at the end?

    Thanks!

i dunno can i be helpful, cause i wasn’t thinking of that, i had only small peace of fabric left for the waistband, and i used all of it, without thinking about what instructions suggested.. i mean, it’s just a long rectangle, you can make it as wide as you want to, depending on how wide you like your waistband to be..

thanks! i was more concerned with the length rather than the width, i don’t want to cut it out and then discover it’s too short to fit on the shorts. I think i will just cut it out in the end and just cut what fits.
      Thanks again.

yup, that’s the way to go – leave it longer then the burda instructions say.. i always do that.. it’s better to go longer, and adjust the length later, then not to have enough :) look forward to see your shorts!
