My second creation. I think it turned out fantastic considering it’s my second time sewing. I had so much fun making it, even though it took me 13 hours from I downloaded the pattern until it was done.
Only thing that really sucks is that I had very limited fabric (that’s why it ended up as a pair of shorts instead of pants.) Because of this I could not match the checks on the different panels.
I did not understand the instructions provided with the pattern, so I kind of just did what I felt was right.. And as I did not have any zipper available I made the fly with buttons instead.
I will definitely make more shorts in the coming weeks! Went to the fabric market today and bought 60-70 yards of fabrics. So I’m ready for my 3rd creation. Planning on a surfer shorts, but need elastic band and mesh lining before I can start.
The sizes are way off on this pattern. I measured myself and selected the size based on the instructions in the pattern and I should have gone with 2 sizes smaller. I kind of cheated on the pictures and gathered the excess fabric on the side that’s not visible to the camera. =)
Glad to hear any comments/tips to improve it. =)
The pictures don’t show the workmanship so well though.. sorry for that..
How do I make Burda style not cropping my pictures? I’ve adjusted them to be 400px wide but still the pictures are cropped.. Anyone knows?
Cotton check Y/D.

Actually I really like guys wearing this kind of shorts so my comment may be overweighted, but this pair looks sooo good!!! :)) Love the fabric choice, in fact. I totally agree that you’ve got some skills having in mind you’ve done this as your second project. Good luck with further projects!

Thanks for all positive feedback.
Lironeld: I was terrified to try myself. But as with every other thing in this world – You’ll never succeed if you never try. I had no idea how to make these pants.. But I started by printing the pattern, cutting the fabric, and took it one step at the time. Also looking at my other pants and shorts to understand which sides to sew together and how to do the button fly as I did not have a zipper. It’s really a lot easier than it sounds like. I finished another pair in a smaller size and with different fabric yesterday. I’ll take pictures and upload this weekend.
Camilaustral: Upload the pictures! We want to see. =)

Fabulous work – quite challenging for only a second project. Now you’ll be able to do anything (especially after a button fly)! Happy sewing….

It looks great. You did a wonderful job. I love this kind of pants, but I dare not try that yet…
