My first coat ever. I made it after I took an evening-course in pattern construction a few years ago (in 2003 I think). Back then it was very hard to find nice, fitted wool coats and I really wanted one, so I made one.
It’s fitted without darts, instead I made curved sections that create the shape as well as detailing.
It was LOADS of work, I don’t know how many cotton prototypes I made but it was fun, and in the end I was very happy with it.
Now fashion has changed and I find it a bit too big (or have I changed?) so I don’t use it anymore, but who knows, I might one day. Hope so.
I also hope to add some more recent projects soon! It’s such an inspiration to look at everyones work here that I just HAVE to start sewing again, thanks :-)!
Wool, brown viscose lining.

Absolutely adorable! I love the curved style lines. You should wear it—a classic like this is always in style!

I love this coat, looks so professional! I don´t think the fashion changed that much, this is classic, you should wear it! I´m so jealous, wish I could make that!

This is the most gorgeous coat on the entire BurdaStyle site. I think it is stunning. It is exactly the type of coat I’d like to make for this Winter. Thanks for the inspiration.

This coat makes my little sweatshirt I wear everywhere look a little kind of wimpy :)
