I finally got around to showing you guys the shorts that I made for my husband. He has been giving hints about how I don’t sew him anything for a few years now. But I just never got the guts to try my hand at menswear.
But I thought: how hard can it be?? right? well I used a burda men’s short pattern, but when I wanted to put in the zipper I was lost! The burda instructions weren’t any help at all! Obviously men’s zippers are not as easy to put in as women’s.
So I turned to you tube for help and I found this great tutorial about how to put in a men’s zipper. It was a great help. I’ll add the link in the credits.
I also used the tutorial on how to put in pockets from the Burda resources page. I did some top stitching with orange jeans thread. It really jumps out against the navy blue of the shorts. And I also added some length to the existing pattern because he likes his shorts on the knee.
All in all I’m happy with my first try at menswear. It needs some fine tuning but the next one will definitely be great!
Material Notes
1,5 m cotton
orange jeans thread for top stiching
