I´ve heard, sewing pants is one of the most difficult things to sew. Now, I can confirm it.
I wanted a jeans with the whole shebang like 5 pockets, top stitching and so on.
I chose the Vogue Pattern V8774. I first made a muslin but it didn´t fit, it had many creases in the crotch area and any attempt to get rid of them failed. So I decided to just copy another pair of jeans that fitted me well. And I had luck, it worked! There are still some little creases, but it seems to be normal, because other old jeans of mine have the same creases too, I just didn´t remark them until now.
The top stitching was also a little bit tricky at the beginning, but at the end it became better. At the last moment I remarked that the zipper fly on the Vogue pattern was on the wrong site and I could change it in time. I also lengthened the jeans around 5 cm.
When cutting the fabric, I paid a lot of attention not to cut the coloured hearts on the center front and back. I also tried to make the 2 back pockets symmetrical.
Well, now I´m very happy with my new jeans! Together with the “Versace” blazer from last time I have a very colourful summer pantsuit :-)
And now, as I already have a fitting pattern, I can´t wait to sew many other jeans in many other colours!
