Description

Hi!! This is my mother wearing a self-made dress! Isn’t she cute wearing this and having this glance saying: " I made this wonderful dress myself" at her face? When I see these pictures I can understeand why I love so much to sew, so she is my first inspiration!!! ! The pattern she used is burda model 08-2009-113 … she added a pleat at the middle and a fabric belt. I liked the model at the magazine but I think that my mother’s dress is even more pretty … she almost convinced me to try this pattern myself:) I hope you like my mother’s dress as much as I do
p.s. 1 This is also my new place to live, a real paradise
p.s. 2 She also added shoulder pads because she thinks she has very narrow shoulders and I can’t convince her that we are not at the 80s any more:P

Your mum has got the style and the taste and she’s really shining in her dress, besides I think it’s not just her beautiful outfit makes impression – it her inner beauty and kindness that talk. To be inspired by mum is probably the best way to be inspired. If our mums have good taste and love to sewing, who else could be the greater supporter for us than they? I’m glad that you and your mum have common addiction to sewing and share your love so sincerely:-)

Thank you so much Oksana, sure my mom will be very touched by your kind comments, especially about the inner beauty:))! I think that every lady of us when wearing a self-made dress has a special pride and joy which is obvious at the expression of her face!! This joy is what motivates me to sew and it’s the only thing that my mom “teached” me about sewing (the rest I figured them out on my own)!! You know my mother sees many of the creations here and we talk about them some times! She liked very much your Blue Safari and your navy blue party dress.

Greeting to your mum, I’m flattered really. My mum is my first inspiration, too. Because, in fact, she made almost all of my clothes when I was a child. She didn’t teach me to sew either and when I grew up, stopped sewing herself, she said that only could wear clothes of high quality – it meant made by me, and I did it many years when worked as tailor; not any more now. But my mum is still my first critic and a photographer.

I have visited Greece! I actually studied Classics at university and had to take Ancient Greek for two years, so it was a dream come true for me to visit! And the food! Pure heaven! I dream of olives and tomatoes as tasty as those I ate in Greece…! It is so sad about the economy and it must be very hard at the moment. My husband is Irish and it seems to be very similar – I really hope things pick up soon!

I’m very glad you liked our olives and tomatoes, they are my favorites here too!!! It’s very scarse to hear about them, usually I hear about mousakas and souvlaki!

I love your Mum’s dress and she can obviously sew beautifully still and with a not so easy fabric. Good for her. You should get your Mum to sign up as a Burda Style member so we can all see her latest creations. Is your new home in Athens or near by??

She lives with me the last two years, because I change places due to my job and wants to be near me! I agree with you about the member thing and I can do it myself: she knows almost nothing about internet and she can’ t speak English. The hard thing is to convince her that posting here is not something inappropriate for her age and that there are a ton of ladies who would love to see her creations.

Lovely dress and your mom looks great in it. The shoulder pads work as they make the sleeves falls beautiful off the shoulders
