We had to make this costume and dye our own material, plus we had to make a coif with a hand finished technique, I did gutta and handpainting with silk and dyes.
We had to use calico and anything we could find in the scraps boxes, no budget!
Karrin MacCauley was the cutter and pattern drafter.

This is amazing! man, i’d love to be able to design and sew something like that. You must be proud of how it turned out. The colour is fabulous by the way. and the pattern in the last picture, did you hand paint that?

Thanks for your comments :) OfficeBusyBody: We were learning how to dye fabric in another part of our course and if we did not want a full calico dress we used the dye class, this shade was shocking pink at one stage!!! Not very tudor :)

Amazing. I wouldn’t have thought that was calico. Why did you have to dye the fabric?
