red has always been my favourite colour, I loved this fabric with tiny flowers when I first saw it and later went back and bought it – I’m sad to say that this skirt faded badly (the photo was taken a good few months ago) and it was good quality quilting cotton so that was disappointed. I then tried to dye it red (what a procedure…first time I’d done the whole boiling/dyeing thing in a big pot I borrowed from my mom – you can see how much I loved this skirt!) but alas, it looks awful and the pretty white flowers were no longer. So the skirt is lying in my sewing room, and there is a new piece of identical red cotton fabric waiting to be made into another Marie skirt – the man at the fabric shop was very kind and gave it to me no charge after I told him my sob story! This time I won’t dry it in the sun
