I created this dress without an actual pattern. I draped the filmy chiffon layers on a dress form until I got the look I was after. The underdress consists of a full length circle skirt attached to a gathered sweetheart neckline bodice held up with slim silk straps. The Sash/Belt was created using a Drafted Belt pattern and was cut from Silk Dupioni. I hand stitched on beading that had been rescued from a very sad antique wedding dress that someone had destined for scraps. This dress took on many unsuccessful incarnations before it became exactly what I had envisioned.

I’m very impressed!!!!! The dress is gorgeous and you look great in it. I too went for an “untraditional” color for my gown, I wore deep purple for my wedding. It’s good to break from the norm since, really, all this “white on your wedding day” started when Queen victorian wore white on hers and everyone followed suit. Hopefully, brides will start wearing the colors they really want, not just plain boaring white or ivory. Congrats on the dress.
