This is my dream coat. I walk 2-3 blocks from my parking spot to the office where I work and in Northern Minnesota this can be a very chilly walk. So, from Vogue 7979 and McCalls 4304 I made a pattern for this coat. It has three layers. A satin lining, polar fleece inner layer and the outer layer is wool. I made the kimono sleeves so that I can wear bulky sweaters and not have my arms get too constricted and hot. The stand up collar is just a long rectangle I sewed on that snaps closed to protect my face. My original intent was to knit button covers but after making one I decided I didn’t like them so the other buttons are covered in leather.
My only regret is that I did not have enough wool to make the coat fall just below the knee.

Man! You know it’s cold when you need all that! It’s currently 34 Degrees C down where I am. You’ve done a fantastic job combining the patterns. Well done.
