Description

How often do you come across a great pattern, but you can’t seem to find the right fabric for it? So you make yourself a mental note which with time becomes just a hazy feeling that there IS something sewing related that you once planned to do but now you can’t seem to remember what? Too often in my case. I do believe that there is a graveyard of lost ideas somewhere in my subconscious.
Anyway, I’m so glad this jacket find her way out! I love the peplum in the back, wasn’t sure about the front zipper so I made double button closure instead. I was totally psyched when I found this fabric in our local fabric store! Little did I know that working with it is going to be such a painful process, but what can you do. Aside of being perfect for this jacket it was also a real bargain, and I have enough of it to make a skirt too!
Lining is my favorite part! Most of the time i wear it with the sleeves pulled up, so that the sweet yellow lining can be seen :)
We have a beautiful autumn days here, so I took the jacket out for some pictures! Don’t know is it some sort of professional deformation (archaeologist, not an undertaker) but I love old cemeteries. I found them nice and peaceful..
Hope you like it!

Material Notes

Some drapery fabric, the color is light grey with some shimmery silver lines all over it (not sure how much this can be seen in the pictures). Working with it was a royal pain in the gluteus maximus, I barely managed to set my machine right for it. Feed dogs were pulling the fabric in all directions, I literally had to interface every piece in order to gain nice straight stitches. All in all, it was quite a nightmare and I’m so glad that everything came alright in the end.

Hvala ti!

I’ve almost completed this style from the download and you’re right, the instructions leave a lot to be desired! Mine is in a red ‘Faille’, also difficult to sew and frays a lot, I’m about to sew the buttonholes and then it’s done. It looks fantastic though, I can’t wait to wear it. I’m going to take inspiration from yours next time because I fully intend to make it again. Hopefully it should be easier then………..! Congratulations on your ‘dear jacket’!

Thank you! I really recommend you to give it a try, pattern is great. Although mine is from the magazine, as I understand the one that can be downloaded from the site has some troubles with the instructions.

I will be using the one from the magazine, it’s already traced out, I just need to do a few other items before I can make it.

Thanks :) truth to be told, my alterations are really minimal and this great fit is all due to the pattern itself!

Sjajna jaknica, Vesna! Razmisljam se da i sebi napravim jednu, mada iz iskustva znam da su mi prakticnije zatvorenije jakne. Super su ti fotke – ko bi rekao da je Novo groblje tako fotogenicno (khm, valjda je to Novo groblje)?

Your jacket is gorgeous – the hassle of the fabric was worth the finished product. I love it! And the lining looks brilliant, especially the piping around the join. Congratulations!

Ah, your picture looks like a Gaspar Friedrich painting! Very romantic. I love this grey/blueish colour and yes you mastered the lining as perfectly as the rest!
