How often do you come across a great pattern, but you can’t seem to find the right fabric for it? So you make yourself a mental note which with time becomes just a hazy feeling that there IS something sewing related that you once planned to do but now you can’t seem to remember what? Too often in my case. I do believe that there is a graveyard of lost ideas somewhere in my subconscious.
Anyway, I’m so glad this jacket find her way out! I love the peplum in the back, wasn’t sure about the front zipper so I made double button closure instead. I was totally psyched when I found this fabric in our local fabric store! Little did I know that working with it is going to be such a painful process, but what can you do. Aside of being perfect for this jacket it was also a real bargain, and I have enough of it to make a skirt too!
Lining is my favorite part! Most of the time i wear it with the sleeves pulled up, so that the sweet yellow lining can be seen :)
We have a beautiful autumn days here, so I took the jacket out for some pictures! Don’t know is it some sort of professional deformation (archaeologist, not an undertaker) but I love old cemeteries. I found them nice and peaceful..
Hope you like it!
Some drapery fabric, the color is light grey with some shimmery silver lines all over it (not sure how much this can be seen in the pictures). Working with it was a royal pain in the gluteus maximus, I barely managed to set my machine right for it. Feed dogs were pulling the fabric in all directions, I literally had to interface every piece in order to gain nice straight stitches. All in all, it was quite a nightmare and I’m so glad that everything came alright in the end.
Dress up outerwear with deep shawl collars and sew up a lovely fitted dress with a flounced hemline.
