went nuts about that matthew willamson dress, over a year ago
when burda released the pattern
but only last week i managed to finally make it
and.. i’ll have to make another one
to get it just right
i’m crazy about this fabric
but it was not the right choice for this dress
it’s too busy
so all those fabulous lines got lost in the print
also, fabric is a bit heavy for the dress
it’s cotton, with some stretch to it
and it has structure of denim
so is a bit too much for this design
if i’m to make this dress again
i would use something a bit lighter
also, i should have cut smaller size at the bodice
usually i cut 38 size bodice and 40 size skirt
but i’ve been working out for months
and my hip size dropped to 38
but it never occurred to me that maybe my upper body got smaller too
well, turns out it did
so, if i’m to make this dress again
i’ll go for size 36 bodice, or use non-stretch fabric
but, frankly.. i don’t give a damn about all that things i’m complaining above
i really love this dress, as it is
it’s comfy, it’s flattering, and i feel great wearing it
i skipped the lining, finished the hems with cotton bias tape
decided to use invisible zip instead of exposed metallic one..
also, skirt has back kick pleat – first one i ever made
