Description

This is my first version of the Renfrew Top. I cut a size 12 in the top part and graded to a 14 from the waist down. I wanted it to fit a bit toghter around the Bust, than the finished garment meassurements sugested. But now the shoulders are a little bit too narrow. So next time I’m gonna cut a strait 14 (or maybe grade from a 14 in the shoulders to a 12 around the bust and back to a 14 again).
Cutting the striped fabric was a pain in the *ss, but so worth it! I used Tasia’s tips on cutting striped knit fabric. I’m so glad I didn’t choose the long sleeves, for it would have meant a lot more stripes to match.
Sewing it together was a breeze! I thought I would have to redo the side seams several times for the stripes to match, but they did match perfectly the first time. I used lots and lots of pins and my walking foot, wich I think did the trick.
I used a twin needle for the neckline and sleeve cuffs wich resulted in an absolutely beautiful and professional looking finish. I love it!
I really love this pattern! I’m already dreaming up lots of variations i want to try (like sewing the cowl neck version in a sweater knit or lengthening the hem to make a dress).

Finishing is wonderful, especially around the neck line.

Really nice job. It looks store-bought, but a little nicer with the stripes lining up.
