This project was based of my daughter Mayah’s school reception play a few weeks ago.
She played a star and had to provide a costume. I put this little piece together. I could have purchased…but why on earth for when sewing is Fun!!!Also it wouldn’t be the same when you can put a piece together yourself.
I up-cycled a top of hers and worked from there. It took me a few days on and off (well some of you may know how it is with having other children :O))) All of the top was redesigned.I made the tulle and and then sewed and cut a silver shiny fabric for the top and the skirt part. I then sewed on the silver sequins around the waist area and onto the neck part of the top.
I made the star by purchasing the star and using two Alice hair bands and pushing them through the star and using silver ribbon to wrap around it.
The top was cut from the cap sleeve area and I then added ribbon and press studs on either end so she could easily put on and take off.
Her leggings are her own I sewed sequins around the bottom part of the legs to make it look sparkly.
The trainers I purchased..white and I had a can of fabric spray..silver,which I sprayed onto them. Then I sewed a few sequins on either side (matching) to finish off.
I hope you like it. Mayah loved the outfit and well…as you guessed she Did shine like a star and shone for us and stood out.
More info on my blog soon.
Happy Holidays All.

I have to agree with all the others, Mayah is your shinning star and she looks beautiful. You must have been so proud seeing your little star in the school play. Well done and Merry Christmas.
