This dress I made right before Christmas (which is a mistake most times) with no trouble at all. It fell together perfectly and it was easy as! I got an old belt from an op shop and I painted it pink. It worked out better than I thought. No one knows I painted which is good. :D I used a pattern for the top half only.

Well, there re tons of things u can do to a bodice pattern. Maybe changing the neck line, adding ruffles, applying collar, making it into one shoulder bodicce….and so on. You can also develop ur own pattern using basic bodice block (which i use all the time), Or u can simply take a part an old outfit that looks similar to what u imagine and trace down the pattern then sew it back, that way u have a new pattern, and can start develop it into wut ur design looks like.

Thanks so much for all those good ideas! I have this dress that quite nice and I would like to copy it. But it would be to complicated to sew back up. You see I have this cotton floral fabric, which is quite vintage so I’m not sure what style dress will suit the fabric. I was looking on Burdastyle last night to give me some ideas but I got nothing. But I did see some gorgeous dresses I would like to replicate. Anyway hopefully I will get some free thinking time this arvo. Are you working on something right now?

Oh cool a deniem dress sounds awesome! I want to make some deniem overalls but I don’t have all the studs I need for them yet. I firgured out why I don’t like the clothes I make, its because they aren’t my style. They are nice but not something I would wear. So I’m going to try and make something I will wear. :D

Thanks! I would buy a pink belt if I had money but all my clothes are made in a budget.

Its really cute! (and sophisticate too ^^) I think skills can be learned and improved. Im sure it took a long time for ur mom to become a really good sewer as she is now, so keep working on it, i’m sure its in ur genes lol ;) So wut kind of dress do u have in mind for this xmas?

Thanks, I like the sophisticated look too. Yea she did sewing lots so I think thats how she got good.
I have no idea! If you haven’t noticed all my dresses are based around the same pattern, because I can’t afford to buy one. I got that one for free, second hand but brand new which was a score! So anyway I want to do one not with the same bodice, I think everyone is sick of it and I am too. So thats about all I have decided to do for now. I do want it to be purple but I don’t have any purple fabric so I’m not sure about that one.

Wow! you definitely can’t tell you painted the belt. Did you use spray paint or brushed it on?

Thank you! I brushed it on. I did very thin layers at a time so you couldn’t tell. That way their wasn’t clumps of paint if you know what I mean.
