These are my versions of the Chanel jacket. I have wanted a Chanel jacket for ever, however its out of my price range. The Brown version is my “test” jacket made from fabric out of my stash, and the blue/gray one is the final product that I want to wear for my sister’s wedding in May, made from some beautiful Linton Tweed. In order to make them slightly different, I didn’t add the fringed trim, and added 2 extra pockets. There is lots more about my whole Chanel jacket making journey and the alterations I made on my blog here http://psewing.blogspot.co.uk/p/making-of-chanel-type-jacket.html
Brown jacket mixed woven wool from my stash – Walthamstow market

You should really give this a try, I found it much easier than I thought – this Burda pattern is really quite easy to use too. I have put quite a few tips and photo’s and links on my blog here (you may find them helpful)

I am pleased, I put quite a bit on my blog for the changes I made, they may be of help if you haven’t done one before – save’s on some of the errors I made

Thanks for your tips on your blog and I will note them when I make my jacket. But can you tell me why the chain goes around the hem? Is it for weight or just decoration?
