This is my submission for the Summer Sewing Challenge! I used the dress pattern and skirt pattern from the BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook.
I changed the dress into a blouse by drafting the bodice pieces longer, and I omitted the zipper in the back. The white fabric is a woven polyester/cotton blend and the mint fabric is a knit jersey. I used an antique button for the front closure.
For the skirt, I drafted my own variation for less panels, and I added a simple rectangle shaped ruffle to the bottom to make it a maxi skirt. I decided to use french seams for a nice finished look on the inside of my skirt. The floral print fabric is a polyester satin. I sewed on an exposed zipper with the help of a wonderful member’s tutorial here on BurdaStyle.
I love wearing my outfit! It’s fun, bright, and relaxed just like summer should be!
