shanimals – thanks! the $2 price for the skirt and the bag end result made it will worth the effort to rip out all the seams.
I now hunt my local thrift stores on sale days for leather and suede skirts in different colors.

this is great! I want to make this bag too, and I had never thought of using re-purposed leather (not sure if the fabric store around me even sells leather!) so that is a great idea, thanks! I love the outter material, it matches very nicely with the brown leather :)
