Burda Style For people who sew
Description
When I saw this pattern http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/springtime-frock the other day I went totally nuts and made this dress for my friends b-day party. It was a “whole week” job but it payed off. I´m very pleased with the result. I was a little afraid it won´t suit me because of my big,khm, back but it looks ok, doesn´t emphasize it at all. :)

Gorgeous! It looks lovely on you :) I’m just tackling this pattern which I’m very excited about but as others have said the instructions are not so good. Did you have to put in a centre front seam or a seam anywhere in the front panel for the skirt? It said to buy fabric 140cm wide but the way it is it looks like I would need to have 160cm wide fabric for it to work? any help would be appreciated!

Hy! Skirt is made out of three parts. It has an insert in the center front. I worked with a 140 cm wide fabric. Hope it makes any sense to you. :)

I love your version of this dress!! I’m making it right now and have the problem that the sleeves are veru tight and I can’t lift my arms over my head. Did you have this problem?

Thanks, yes I had the same problem, they are really tight. :)) After a while, I got bored of that so I removed them. :))

I am going to try shortening the sleeve cap to that the sleeves stand out a little from my arms and ease them into the armscye so that there is a little more room in them. I hope I don’t have to remove them too since they are very cute.

Hi! Based on your gorgeous version, I am going to make this dress. I have bought and printed the pattern but its my first time using a burda pattern and Im finding teh instructions to be challenging! Can I ask, did you make a tulle underskirt or just a normal lining? I dont want my skirt to be too poofy! Also how much fabric does it use? I cant find this anywhere in the instructions…. I cant wait to get started so hope you can help me out! Thanks so much

Hy, I´m glad you find my dress inspiring. I had this fabric in my stash, about 270 cm but here: http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/102010-full-skirted-dress-with-cut-out-bustline they say you need 310 cm. I didn´t follow any instruction, I rarely do. :)
I was also a bit afraid about the skirt but it turned out ok. Didn´t make any lining for the bottom part, just double layer for the upper part as it is in the BMag.

This looks great! I especially love the bodice… I have the same pattern as well, just not sure what to do with it. I gotta do something with that skirt, but it looks great on you. :)

This dress is beautiful – I saw the same dress but in a flowery material but I have to say the block looks even better in this style. Gorgeous!

Your version is much nicer than the Burda’s! The blue colour suits you well, and the fit looks very good. I really liked this pattern from the first time I saw it, but your version make me even more determined to sew this some day.

This is gorgeous. The blue suits you so much. I have only just realised how good blue looks on girls with dark hair. Looks particularly good with red lips and toes!

sjajno je ispala :) ne bih se nikad setila ove boje i odlicno ti stoji .. jesi li i ti imala problem sa rukavima? zapravo, sa objasnjenjem kako da se prisiju .. ja sam nasla neki svoj nacin ali ih mozda i skinem, posto se malo cudno ponasaju kad podignem ruku :)

Hvala! Imala sam ovaj materijal u zalihama i sto kombinacija šta bi mogla s njim. Super mi je boja, baš osvježava. Nisan uopće gledala upute nego san radila po sistemu nekakve logike. Kako je cijeli gornji dio uskić, a i rukavi s njim, nije baš sad za preveliko dizanje ruku, al je ok. :D
