This Azalea dress was easy to make (taping the pattern pieces together from the printer was a pain, though) and I think it turned out nicely.
I’m short so I took two inches off the length of the upper dress and lining dress, it was still too long and I had to trim it up 2 more inches for both the upper and lining. It’s much better to pull the length from the pattern pieces in the middle than trim the hem, since it hem isn’t completely straight around, as it’s taking into account your bust and wearing the sash. I’m 5"2 and I would have pulled up the pattern pieces by 4 inches if I were to make it again.
I tend to wear it with a skinny belt as the belt in the picture adds too much bulk to my waist since it is woven and thick and I certainly don’t need anymore bulk!I left out the zipper because the dress was rather roomy, I wouldn’t mind going down a size or two and adding in the zipper because the dress straps will sometimes fall off my shoulder.
Cotton lining for the dress. The upper dress is cotton seersucker.
