for my birthday, i was given a wonderful assortment of fabrics and one in particular jumped out at me and i immediately thought that it would be perfect as a tailored 3/4 length sleeve lightweight jacket…so i found a pattern online that i liked and went for it. i was totally intimidated at first, but in the end, it came out well. it is my first attempt at a jacket and really – the first time putting sleeves in anything. pretty easy to follow pattern, overall the fit was good (i did make a few adjustments in the sleeves – i brought it in a bit :-) i used vintage buttons (that i covered in the same fabric as the jacket) and made the buttonholes with my machine. thankfully, (after lots of practice), i was able to pull off making buttonholes for real! i added my own vintage brooch to the collar….
i would love to make this in a heavier wool next time…
