Must Sew gathered front shirt

George Town, Cay...

A MUST Sew pattern – Butterick B5495. Great easy to sew top with flattering front gathers. Shame I burnt a hole in the first one, but very quick to sew up another. Give this pattern a try in a print or a plain fabric. Looks great in both.

I thought the shaping on the pattern envelope looked interesting with curved seams from the center out to the side seam at the waist. It was easy to sew and looks good – I’ll certainly be making more of these.

You can find more photos and the full pattern review over at

Material Notes

Could be great in a variety of fabrics from jersey for a casual look, to something slinky and shimmery for evening wear.

The top is really both must-sew and must-have! Nice pattern, nice job, nice outfit.

I love the pr int! I have recently been working a lot with jersey and I find it a VERY refreshing change from slippery silks and leather, which you cannot really make mistakes on… Nice shirt. Looks good.

These tops seem like a fast and fun sew. It’s to bad one of your cute tops got burned.
