This I made especially for my mums birthdayparty, spending the whole night sewing – the first and only thing she said was something like “eeeew, these is way too bright coloured, I hate it”.
This was the moment I decided to send her to an retirement home once she won’t be able to care for herself anymore (and I’m quiet serious about this one, not the first comment like this from my mom ….)
The top is made from the lancey pattern (thank you kallers for posting yours!)
The skirt is a michelle. I often use the seamripper, so i did on the michelle but the holes stayed in the fabric (another ikea) and so I covered the upper part with a dark blue fabric and re-did the pleats.
As always I had to size up the patterns to a 48/50….

Oh mums, if I did everything she wanted I would be her instead of me, listen but don’t always do :)
I like the colours, navy, red, white, but adding the grey top underneath is really too much. So the top on its own with navy pants would be great and the skirt by itself with a navy singlet would be awesome. Two outfits! yah!
I would take the brooch away too to keep the top simple. I think thats when bold bright colours or patterns work best on simple garments.
The shape of the garments are good for you x

ok, my turn. I like how you played with the top patterns, very creative.I don’t like the color of the skirt’s band, I would use either white or red. Each piece of cloth is fine by itself but they don’t work together as the outfit.

The outfit looks fine to me and covering the holes was done very well. I still “constructive criticism”, and “honest opinions” faster than frogs catch flies. I must have a face that says, “go ahead, take out your nasty stick and whack me!” I ignore the remarks, but it took a long time, before it quit hurting. Your mam better watch her mouth; remarks like that will sooner or later bite her in her rump.

I like it, but as a summer dress.
Maybe it would look nice with a v neckline top underneath.
Or a strap lycra top.
But I thing the whole mix of colors is very nice.
Dont’ worry, my mom is always too critical about EVERYTHING that I do.

Some people are scared by bold bright colours, they prefer less striking colours. If you like bold colours and they suit you, nothing wrong with wearing them!!! I love the red white fabric you used and they way you combined the patterns.
Don’t let your mum’s aversion to bright colours affect your own style, wear what you like!

ok, i have to admit, i laughed my bum off at this! maybe you could over-dye it and she would like it better or you can just keep it for yourself!
