I thought I will put this dress up here on the special occasion of Mothers’ Day. The dress is recycled from an old dress my mom used to wear, when I was little. The story behind the dress fabric goes back to 1987, when my father used to go on hiking expeditions to the Far East. From one of the expeditions (to Kamchatka) he brought back this fabulous dress fabric for my mom. Considering I was living in Soviet Union at that time the fabric caused quite an uproar amongst the womenfolk. It was so fine compared to the (lack of) fabrics you could get from local stores. My mom took this fabric to a seamstress and let the dress be made there.
The original dress had long sleeves and quite a high neck line. I kept the skirt bit as it was, but changed everything else. As I made this dress about 3 years ago, there’s no “before” picture of it. I only started to take pictures of my projects recently.
A fine silk like dress fabric (not sure, what it is exactly), lining fabric & zipper (on the side)
