So, this is probably one of the most successful of my ‘re-makes’ it is one of the BF’s old t-shirts, and some jersey which I have made into a skirt and added to the T-shirt to make a dress.
It was inspired by the amazingly talented Takeoffyourclothes (http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/double-t-shirt-dress-white), who made a dress by sewing two large t-shirts together at the neckline.
This would have been a little extreme a look for me so i decided to cut off the neck of the t-shirt and create a black skirt using some lovely drapey jersey that I had in my stash, it was super easy, all I did was place one of my fave American Apparel dresses flat on the floor, cut 2 skirt pieces to the same size of the skirt out of the jersey, and sew them together to make a skirt.
Then I pinned the t-shirt to the skirt (neckline – to waistline) and carefully stitched together, turned it right side out added an elastic belt on top to hide the seam and that was it!
These are terrible pictures but I had to take them with my phone, digital camera was out of service that day, i have had loads of compliments on this dress though and it is wearable in so many more ways than the 3 in the pics, not to mention as a T-shirt with an awesome black scarf when you turn it the other way up – amazing!
PS – i have tried to link this page to the original dress by beringold / takeoff your clothes but the form wont let me so please see the link above.
