Description

I made this summer dress from a light silk material. it was insanely slippery and a bit of pain to work with! I made a few mistakes, especially on the sleeves but now I know what it should be like for the future!

Your dress looks wonderful! Please help me if you can. I am confused by the directions. I don’t understand where the upper and lower decorative bands go or how to sew them according to instructions. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I got confused on this one too! It took me a bit, but I figured it out. What step # are you confused with?

In the second paragraph it instructs to sew the decorative bands together but the directions don’t make sense to me. Also, I am contused about the shoulder and neck bands. Thanks for replying.

For the decorative band pieces, they are long rectangles with points at the end. there should be a point on each long one that matches a point on each short one. If you lay one on top of the other, right sides facing, and stitch the point, when you open it and invert the now stiched point so the right sides face out, it should form an “L” It should also be folded in half length wise at this point (it will want to anyway due to the point.) This lies along the corner cutout of the long center piece and should match the cutout almost exactly. Let me know if that does not make sense! I can make a video with scrap fabric since it is hard to explain!

Anytime! Let me know if you need any other help with this one, especially the neck bands! I did those wrong and realized right after I finished but it was too late to take the seam out!

Very nice little dress. I like the style of the neckline and armhole, very pretty!
