I was originally going to do this a year ago as a going away present for my friend with strips of leather and put the eyelets in myself, but the friend I was making it for left before I finished it, so I never bothered to. I also didn’t really want gold eyelets and I had more gold coloured ones than silver. Then I finally found eyelet tape at the store here, and after a while of having it, the idea hit me to do this with the tape rather than having to put the eyelets into stips of fabric myself. I’m not sure which one would cost more to make. I think I shall put boning in the back on one of the sides on each strip so that it won’t get out of shape or scrunch up or anything. My mother liked it a lot =PAt first it laced up all around. It was too hard to get on and off that way, of course, so I cut another strip and sewed eyes onto that one and hooks onto the original middle strip [ pictures of it before and after]. Not much sewing involved except for the hooks and the edges.
Cheap lace grommet tape [about $0.75 a meter] and pretty thin teal ribbon.
