My sister’s friend Lisi requested a dress made for her. She lost a lot of weight recently and wanted to show off her shape and particularly her collar bones. Plus, the dress had to be white. This was a challenge because I’d never met her and all I had were her measurements and a few pattern style suggestions to go on. Also, Ms. Lisi is 6 feet 1 inches tall. Quite a departure from my 5’3".
I used a polyester cotton spandex blend for the dress, lined it and based the whole thing on McCall’s M6508. I made the dress, she came to fit it once, I altered the hips a bit and then gave it to her without the second fitting because of time constraints. I wouldn’t recommend that. I was worried about whether the final outcome would fit perfect.
I held my breath…she sent me a photo and she loved it! That’s all I wanted. I just wanted to challenge myself fitting her shape and making her happy.
2 yards cotton, polyester spandex blend, 2 yards of lining, 22 inch zip, hook and eye.
Plan a weekend getaway in these sweater dresses and furry accessories.
