Description

My boyfriend named this the Motown dress because apparently the print looks like records. I’d like to think it’s because when I wear it I look like one of the Supremes, but sadly, I do not. Not to say that I don’t like the dress—for a very simple quick sew, I really like it. I’ve used this pattern once before, but that was back when I could only sew with cotton, and it came out way too stiff. This is very drapey, heavy silk, and it looks nice. The shape is just OK—I may make a sash with the leftover fabric (a belt won’t really work because even the darker “records” are blue, not black, and silly me, I don’t have a midnight-blue wide belt). Oh, and I did not match the print at the back seam, because I couldn’t afford to buy any more of this than I absolutely needed. All in all, though, since the print is one of my favorites and it is be easy to wear, it will be a good going-out dress to have around.

it’s cute – i really like the pattern! i also think a wide black sash or belt would work well :)
