i made the grainline studio moss mini out of an older corduroy skirt i just never wore. i’m so glad i was able to give it a second life because i really loved the corduroy fabric and it was a shame to see it languish in my closet, unloved. now it will get regular use!
the knit top i’m wearing is the free dolman tee pattern from cation designs. it’s a great casual top… perhaps my new favorite!

What a lovely outfit! Nice finishing and topstitching on the skirt.

Thanks so much for the info! I think that I will try and either cut a larger size to start with or grade to a larger size from the waist to the hips since I usually need extra room in the hip and/or backside too. That is super helpful – thanks so much for responding! :-)

no problem! one more thought… i found that the side seams sit slightly to the back, so you may only need to add to the side back and center back seams. anyways, hope yours turns out well!

This is so cute! I love your version of the moss mini with the buttons down the front! I actually just printed out those two patterns yesterday and logged on to burdastyle just now and saw your post! Super cool – those two make a really cute outfit! :-)
Did you find the skirt pattern to be pretty true to size? I’m just wondering how much ease (if any, really) is built into the pattern since it seems like it is drafted to be form fitting.

how crazy! they’re both great patterns! as far as fit, i think the sizing is accurate with the pattern. the skirt is pretty form fitting with very little ease, so if you’re unsure it wouldn’t hurt to leave a little extra seam allowance. the pattern has 1/2" SA so there’s a little less to work with there. i usually need extra room in the hip and/or backside, and it definitely isn’t drafted for a lady with a bootie. :)
