My daughter is becoming quite the baker – every evening we all get graced with a plate of wooden biscuits courtesy of Melissa and Doug, 3 pieces of uncooked pasta – and now a few delicious cupcakes :-)
Yesterday evening I suddenly got the urge to make her a dozen cupcakes that she could bake in her little wooden oven. I’ve seen really magnificent felt cupcakes on the net which are far prettier than these, but I’m quite glad I didn’t embark on the fancy type last night, because after the 12th simple cupcake I was rather over them :-) All that sickly sweet icing does that……

Very cute! What a great idea. Did you come up with the pattern/ templates on your own or did you find them somewhere? If I can get through my latest project in time, this would be a great idea for my niece’s birthday.

Thanks very much, there are a few tutorials/patterns of fancier cupcakes on the net, but I just traced 2 circles onto felt per cupcake and then cut out some curvy icing and sewed the icing onto the top circle. They were quite fiddly and took about 3 hours to complete, but when I see how much fun my daughter has with them well worth it! I’m sure your niece would love some!
