I had this burgundy chiffon in my storage for years, waiting for it’s time. For some reason, I decided that this is not my colour and the only reason I actually started thinking of using it to make something was to get rid of it! Chiffon is a nightmare to work with and I can frankly say I didn’t enjoy the process, but…. I Love the outcome. The pattern from Burda Style Magazine 2/2008, 119 was perfect! Something to through over a tank top and a pair of jeans for a bit of glamour! The lace trimming in a matching tone adds a bit of old romance to the whole image.
The trousers are made using self-drafted pattern ( see credits)

Absolutely darling. Just to make sure I understand the pictures – you are wearing the top over a lace edged camisole? So the top is quite sheer-brava!

amazingly, I would have never chosen this colour for myself, and this project was in a way to get rid of a piece of chiffon, I had for ages. What a surprise!

I love this top on you and I went back to my old Burda magazine stack and found the pattern which I have completely overlooked and realized how much nicer is yours. I often overlook patterns, simply because of the fabric used by Burda, so I am so delighted to see your top made in chiffon (not my favourite fabric to sew) and to see how lovely it looks. I have a heap of chiffon left over from my daughter’s bridesmaid dresses for her wedding and I have been wanting to make something with it. You have now inspired me on got me thinking!!!

I think it is worth it. Another similar top is in the current (08/2012) issue of Burda Magazine, and it ties at the back nicely. I think chiffon is a very nice fabric for those kind of tops, but it is a nightmare to work with- I always feel inferior to those seamstresses that often take on huge chiffon challenges.
