Description

These are a pair of denim trousers I have been lusting after for a while now. I used the Janina pattern, but widened the waistband and took in the pant legs by about 5 inches. Those legs are something serious! I have full skirts with less width!! I added clasps closures in the front and added a tab instead of a button. I also used fusible hemming tape to reinforce a few areas I did not want to top-stitch. I really do not like top-stitching in general and opted out for it this time. But when faced with hem tape and top-stitching again I think I will succumb to top-stitching because I felt like such a cheater ironing on the tape!

All in all I love these trousers. I will be making some in the near future with a stretch denim and slightly more tailored, and back one flap pockets.

Material Notes

Denim, metal closures, jean zipper

    love them!!!!
what fdo you mean with “widened the waistband”? and where did you took in the legs? inside or outside?
do you think its better with stretch fabric?

    you klook great!

I thickened the waistband to double the width the pattern calls for by creating facings for it instead of turning it over. and I took in the legs from the inside(inseam) by about 2.5 inches on each side.

I am considering taking them in a bit more at the thigh on the outside to create a bit of a flare though. I wore them and feel a little too business casual.. I think a flare will dress them down a bit more.

I think a stretch fabric is a wise way to go, I am thinking a stretch wool suiting and denim for the furture (once I get the legs just right!)

      Thanks!!
