Description

This is the modified Bathina bag I made my niece for her birthday. I added a bottom panel to allow her more room inside the bag and put an “E” on the front as a monogram. I also added a zipper to the inside to keep things from falling out of it when it’s swung around by a 6 year old.

It looks rather space age between the silver vinyl and the silver lame lining, but I had them laying around from making her brother a stuffed guitar so I decided to use them. It took about 3 hours to sew by hand.

I absolutely love it! Have to make this for my baby girl so she can put her little things in there!

The pattern piece for the bottom was really simple. I just took the bottom half of the bag pattern (pages 1 and 2 in the pattern) and folded the pattern down about an inch. Then I traced it twice with the folded edge as a center line to create an elongated oval. (see here for example.)

The German word for this is: GEIL! I like your modi on the bag – to add a bottom is cool idea and I think here are some guys who would like to have this pattern piece ;-) or an how to. Shame your fancy version doesn´t show up with the pattern.

All right, I confess – I made the bathina bag as well, but didn’t post my creation because it didn’t turn out anything like this. :) Your fabric is great, especially for a six year old. My bag is relegated to the task of transporting feminine products in suitcases.
