Description

I so love the back of this vintage dress, but the recommended fabric was a no no for me. I am not a fan of velvet so I decided to use knits and give the dress a try. This lovely dress features a draped back and shoulder ribbon ties. I use two different type of fabric and contrast each other.

I also change the style of the skirt by using my own draft pattern were I added a metal zipper at the back to give it a modern look. The skirt have four pleats at the front and darts at the back. I didn’t want the top to attached to the skirt at the waistline so it is placed 2 1/2 ins above the natural waistline.

Desperate to bring the dress to completion it took me 7 hours to make. I wore it to my co-worker daughter funeral.

To me the dress turned out great and I feel and look great in it.

What do u think?

I was just looking at some of the dresses that were made with this pattern and I absolutely adore yours! I like the modern twist with the zipper and contrasting fabrics. It makes the dress more up to date and a bit less dressy. (:

Hello!!! :) Thank you for the response :) I wasn’t sure you will read it so soon. Yes – I was thinking about a split too. I would like it to be in nude shades, maybe a combo of two different fabrics like yours too but both in nude color. I see it in my imagination, just need to find proper fabrics :) I was thinking…is it possible to wear a bra with this open back? I’d rather like to wear it :) Greetings from Poland! Anna

Hi Anna! I love nudes…Two shades of that nude will look great. Just work on finding the fabric. A bra can be worn with it but it has to have a very narrow back and has the capability to be pull way down without showing. Just lengthen the straps and it will work. Happy sewing now :-) Looking forward to see your creation

You look gorgeous! This is the best version here!!! I was looking for a chic and classy wedding dress and I think I found it. I just want it to be longer. You think it’s possible to sew it maxi long?

Thank You:-) It is a good style that is suited for a wedding. To make it maxi long would be a great idea. How about you give it a split not too high on one side to provide movement freely.

I was just looking to make this for myself. You have done a marvelous job! You look really good.

I wont make one myself now because of my distinct lack of a figure(lol).
