My 35th project addition to BurdaStyle! :)
I made this blouse over several evenings the past week, using Tasia’s new Pendrell pattern as a base. The blouse pattern is a basic, princess-seam style designed with pear-shaped gals in mind (narrower bust and wider hip proportionately), and I have been dying to make it since she released the pattern late last year. I also found a little snippet of inspiration in one of my favorite 30s fashion history books, of a little scalloped collar with a solid-color inset like this. So armed with the Pendrell pattern and the collar inspiration, I decided to make myself a little early Spring blouse! The pattern was modified only so far as concerns the neckline (lowering and creating a gently-rounded v-shape) and drafting the collar (just a basic Peter Pan style that I divided into the two sections and added scallops to the outer one). The main fabric is a lovely cotton lawn print that I picked up last year, while the inset and bow is a scrap of cotton lawn I had in my stash. I really love how the finished blouse looks—and it’s perfect for spring! The final fit is great as well; this is the first blouse I’ve ever made that I didn’t have to radically alter the bustline to fit! Yay!

Aw, thank you so much! :) As for the collar… lots and lots of pressing!!! That and carefully measuring before I drew out all the scallops for the pattern. But pressing was the most important. ;)

The most adorable blouse ever!! Oh my, I love it so much. Reminds me of those dresses I covet from the Sears catalog book from the 1930s.

Dear Casey, your blouse is just amazing! I like your attention to detail. You have been beautifully finished the collar. However, I like the original pattern absolutely not. Also a special praise for the choice of fabric

Casey, this is beautiful…you could even add a dickey if you ever wanted more coverage or a cute little bolero jacket (knitted, sewn or crocheted). I think this would be pretty in a Liberty of London print too (which I love sew much that I hope that they eventually develop a Liberty Fabrics iPhone app).
