This was the first ensemble from my pattern II class this semester, drafted by hand from my personal slopers. It (4 other classes, and a new line) has been my sole focus for the past few months. Sorry about my lack of posting recently, I prefer not to photograph myself in these items for my portfolio, and rarely have time to do anything but sew.
Cape: First the teal outer fabric is a wool mystery blend, found at Sir’s in Fayetteville TN.
Recycled rabbit fur was used for the cowl, found at a yard sale, the lining is a hand dyed batik (my own experiment), and finished with giant snaps. I love this!
As for the pants, deep pleats are stitched into the tops and bottoms of each piece, yet you cannot tell due to the checkered print. These have grown on me, but not the rest of my class. Oh well, stitch on!
Imagine a warehouse full of thousands of textiles for 2.99 a yard, in the middle of nowhere, an hours drive from anything….BAM thats Sir’s and I loved it! Seriously found 12 yds of fabric for $33. Trust me that is RIDICULOUS!
