Toms River, New ...
This dress was a LOT of firsts for me….
For starters, it’s the first dress I’ve ever made.
First invisible zipper
First time fully-lining a bodice (which I did by following this tutorial- http://kitschycoo.blogspot.com/2011/03/tutorial-how-to-fully-line-bodice.html instead of the super confusing instructions in the pattern)
First time modifying a pattern for fit.
Considering all of this I’m really happy with the way it has turned out! I am really inspired to make a lot more garments now that I find the machine less intimidating.
Other tutorials I used:
Inserting an invisible zipper with a regular zipper foot: http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/how-to-insert-an-invisible-zipper-without-an-invisible-zipper-foot
Making a full gathered skirt: http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/2009/08/sew-full-gathered-skirt-part-one-make.html
I based the dress off of this one from ModCloth, which I saw on MakeThisLook.com: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/blooming-brush-strokes-dress
