Modcloth Handmade Contest - Vinyl Wallet #2

Added Dec 14, 2010

Columbus, Ohio, ...

My boyfriend’s sister lives in Wyoming, which is really far away from us in Columbus. She asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I sent her a wishlist from Modcloth! She ended up sending me everything on the wish list, so to get back at her for being excessivly nice, I made her this wallet.

After making the first wallet for my mom, this one was a little easier, but inserting the zipper still proves challenging. I learned a lot from this project. Working with vinyl is really fun too.

The wallet is made from vinyl and printed cotton. It has slots for 12 cards, two compartments for bills, a zippered pocket for change, and plenty of interior room for your check book which I’m sure is being held with Modcloths cute checkbook holder!

Then place in any modcloth handbag. This red one would look especially nice. ;)

It was pretty complicated, but this was the second one I made so that helped. It was really rewarding to figure it out though!

love it! I’ve been looking at a vintage pattern for a “hose saver” that has a similar accordion structure…it’s for keeping your hose away from your bra hooks and other implements of snagging in your top drawer (silly I know…but I love tricking out my top drawer!) Hope she loves the wallet!

What a great project! It looks very neatly done! Do you have (or know of) a tutorial?

I may in the future write a tutorial, but I’m working on getting holiday related stuff tied up so I haven’t given it a whole lot of thought. I don’t know of a tutorial, but I’m sure there are some out there!
