Description

A wrap-looking dress made from Butterick 5206. The tie belt is sewn to the front, crosses in the back and then ties again in the front. I made a few changes— eliminated the zipper because it didn’t need it, took in the sides a bit more and stitched down the wrapped top at the seam binding so that it wouldn’t gap open while I was wearing it. This was almost entirely constructed on my serger, other than the binding, which I had to do partially on my sewing machine.

polyester knit, thread

Very cute! The fabric and binding combo looks very nice.

This pattern looks very similar to a store-bought dress I have – it doesn’t have a zipper and I’m baffled that they included one in this design. Clearly not necessary, good call on omitting it!

Beautiful dress! I like the contrasting band you used for the belt and the neckine seams finishing. And, I love wrap garments :)

Oooo what a pretty dress. Like your idea to eliminate the zipper. Great job!
