Description

Fifty with a twist!!! Butterick pattern B5780 for the top and B5556 for the bottom.
I love the top part of this pattern but wanted to make a long fifty style dress. Well I just mixed the patterns and here is the result. I really love it and it feels so good.

    Do you know how to gather in place of darts? I have a pattern which I drafted for knits with 1/8 ease, so I wanted to gather instead of darts which I think would leave extra room in addition to the minimal ease I left?

      Just mark 1/2 inch on both sides of the darts and on the skirt 1/2 on each side of the miidle mark of the fabric . draw a line to close the dart markening and that should be your gathering area. Just google it and they have videos on how to do it on you tube. Its not hard at all but it’s easier when you see it. Good luck.

    Hpw did you merge it? I love it and was also thinking of merging a bodice and a skirt in jersey knit

      I made some adjustment to the bodice and the skirt was gathering made longer. i love the top of the dress next one I will also add pockets. good luck
