I picked out this long crochet cardigan pattern some years ago as a means of using up a bag of random wool scraps: each row of the pattern consists of alternate half-circles in different colours, and the only rule is that you can never use the same two colours in combination more than once – if you’ve paired red with blue the first time you use it, then you can pair blue with navy or red with pink and use it again, but you can’t have red and blue next to each other again in the garment! The designer, Sylvia Cosh, also specifies that you should use as many different textures as possible, including mohair and chenille, to produce a variegated effect.
I was a bit short of green wool but fortunately I acquired some extra scraps of green halfway through and was able to introduce them in….
