merry go rounds, horses, hot air balloons and flowers…the carnival is here, right on my shorts!

for these shorts, i used the same pattern as my Marimekko safari. but instead of gathered & cuffed hem, i did scalloped hem! (can’t get enough of them!)
the waistband, side and back pockets come from a second fabric, just so that the shorts won’t look too turquoise. and since i don’t have any supplies of buttons & buying new buttons here cost a fortune (well…not really, but it can be surprisingly expensive, compared to prices of the fabrics themselves), i decided to check my collection of spare buttons. you know, those that usually come with pieces of clothing that you buy (like coats, jackets, pants..), in case the actual button falls off & disappear. luckily for me, i have a green coat that came with one big extra button…and the green colour is perfect for these shorts!
made a little mistake (not sure where) on the zipper, so i had to alter the waistband a bit, but as long as i can wear them, then it’s not a problem at all for me!

oh, the top is also actually half altered by myself. it’s originally a plain white t-shirt from H&M, but i added the bib-like ruffle part on the chest. it was just a quick project i did last winter.

Material Notes

80cm cotton fabric (for the actual shorts), 40cm another cotton fabric (for the pockets & waistband), 15cm of pants zipper, 1 big button.
