I was happily sewing the sleeves, front and back sections and waistband of Vogue 8554. When I did a fitting, the fit was good but I realized what I thought was a waistband was a midriff band as it sat just beneath my bust. A full gathered skirt made it look like maternity wear. I also could not tolerate a centre seam right at the front of the full skirt. I decided to turn the dress into a jumpsuit. I extended the midriff band to my waist. I chose a blue fabric, made a pair of shorts and joined them. The rest of the blue fabric was made into a tie belt which I felt completed the look.
Cotton fabric, bias tape
