A Meringue skirt from Colette Patterns.
I did no design or fit alteration whatsoever, sewing a straight size 8.
But I did add an interlining (black crepe) to give my fabric more body.
Fabric is a printed cotton, quilt weight : La strada (or sometimes called Dolce vita) from Alexander Henry. I think it was from the 2008 collection.
I had been holding on to this fabric because I love it so much that I wanted to wait for the right project. When I saw the meringue skirt pattern when the Colette sewing handbook came out over a year ago, I knew that was the pattern I wanted to use for my fabric. It only took me a year to finally sew it ;) .
The skirt is worn with a Jasmine blouse (pattern from Colette also) made in a very fine silk crepe form Balenciaga. This fabric is a wonder to wear (and a pain to cut), It feels very luxurious.
Skirt outer shell fabric : La Strada from Alexander Henry.
Skirt underlining : synthetic black crepe.
Blouse fabric : fine silk crepe from Balenciaga.
