Description
I am stunned at how this came together.
I was fearless because the shirt was free and unworn for over 10 years. I figured I would just cut it up for the fabric if I ruined it too much.
This mens shirt was big and shapeless on me. In the end I only cut the bottom of the sleeves and the curved bottom edge. Everything else was achieved with pin tucks.
I took in the sleeves, but opted not to cut off the excess. The inside of this shirt is finished so beautifully. All french seams. I couldn’t bring myself to have it all raw and jagged inside. I just folded over the extra when making the new hem. For the collar, I used part of the tiny strip cut from the bottom to make a little rolled band.
I stitched it right sides together, cut of the excess curving the edges slightly, folded the curved edge in and rolled it over twice to hide the raw edge. It was so super easy.

I feel like getting my hands on my husband’s shirts now! Not sure the fabrics will be as hip as the one you used though. This is truly great.

Thanks so much everyone! It was really not that difficult to do. Truly. I had no fear because the shirt had just been hanging around for years.

Super cute and a great way to revitalize old men’s shirts or shirts from a thrift store/yard sale/Goodwill or similar… :)
